Farfelle with Sausage

Talk about a great pasta recipe… this is it! This recipe has been in our family for about 30 years and tastes so delicious! If you love pasta, then you should try this. A comfort food that has a wonderful mix of flavors, from the spices, to the sausage, to all the melted cheese, this dish is amazing!

Farfelle with Sausage

Sometimes I will substitute sweet Italian sausage, instead of the hot Italian sausage, to give it a different taste. When making a large amount, you can double the recipe and use both types of sausage. Our favorite is the spicy flavor, it’s not very spicy at all, and tastes really good. Continue reading

Cabbage Rolls

When the weather cools and the leaves are beginning to turn, I always make a big batch of cabbage rolls. The other day, I was gifted with a huge head of homegrown cabbage and I knew immediately what I would make with it. I love to freeze the extras and know that they will taste wonderful on a cold night when I pull them out of the freezer.

Pear Salad with “55” Dressing

This is a salad that I have made my own. I had the original version at a restaurant, years ago. The restaurant is no longer in business, but I think this comes as close as I’ll ever get. The dressing to this salad is key, it is tangy, salty, sweet and not only complements the pears but also works with many other salad combinations. I have used it with grilled chicken on a big salad and I liked it almost as much as on a side dinner salad. But with pears, it is supreme!

Pork Penne Skillet

I had a pound of ground pork, calling to me from the refrigerator. I bought it with the intention of making a meatloaf. The days have been cooler and it seemed like a good idea, at the time. But….I didn’t feel like meatloaf! Nope, I just wasn’t feeling it!
Maybe it was the homegrown tomatoes sitting on the kitchen counter that got my attention and made the desire for a pasta dish hit me. They were perfectly ripe and I knew the flavor was wonderful, so my little pound of ground pork became the basis for this pasta skillet.

Hearty Beef Vegetable Soup

Dinner in a bowl, what could be better? When there is something in that bowl that is yummy, warm, filling and comforting, it’s a great dinner. I made this soup on a very cool, dreary day. It took care of my hunger, improved my mood and had a wonderful flavor. I didn’t skimp on anything, it’s full of veggie’s and beef.

Shrimp Cakes with Fresh Ginger

When I want to make something that is a little different for dinner, I have often turned to this recipe. I think it originally came from a newspaper cooking column, but I have lost the original. Lucky for me I had entered it into my recipes on the computer.  I’m not known for being super organized with my recipes, so if I really, really like something, I do try to get it on the computer. Have I mentioned that I have over 1000 cookbooks? Some of them are very old and I still buy new ones!  I also follow many blogs and have all my Grandmother’s and Mother’s recipe collections, no way will I ever get those on the computer, but I do like to go through them occasionally. I love many of the older types of recipes and I enjoy updating the methods of making them.

Chicken Cacciatore

Fresh cooking, doesn’t that just sound great? This is one of those flavorful fresh dinners.  Chicken Cacciatore is a common dinner at the time of year when there are good fresh local tomatoes at the markets around me.

This year I grew my own, I put some in my flower bed and have containers of herbs on my deck. If you can get your hands on some,  you should make this. If you can’t, then do the next best thing and use  good quality canned tomatoes…But either way, definitely make this. You won’t be sorry, I promise!

Beef Enchiladas

Do you struggle at times to think of something to make for dinner? I have found that by keeping a couple of pounds of ground beef in the freezer, I can always come up with a dinner everyone will like. This is one of the recipes that I turn to often.

Beef enchiladas are amazing and one of my family’s favorite meals! The difference with these enchiladas versus the standard type of enchiladas are the flour tortillas that are used. Using the flour tortillas gives these enchiladas a different, but delicious, taste and texture! Continue reading

We both enjoy cooking and baking so you will find a variety of recipes published as we get into this venture.

We will be adding details to this blog as we go along. Please let us know in the comments section, any ideas you might have for us. We intend to have a couple of Pinterest sized pictures, located right underneath the recipe. We are hoping that you make use of these pictures for your Pinterest pinning. Both of us have pinned on Pinterest and felt the correct sized pictures would be great addition.
